That delightful smell is meringue frosting, espresso-soaked ladyfingers, and fresh-baked bread.
A new boulangerie has opened across the way today, a quaint little place with painted window frames and outdoor tables. Inside, the decor is inexplicably French, the walls are painted lovely soft pastels, and there are paintings of women with parasols. And, of course, there is a wide glass display case of pastries-- everything from fruit tarts and squares of cheesecake to decorated cups of mousse and chocolate tortes.
And in the window is a little sign with curly writing that states, in honor of their grand opening, today they will be offering free cupcakes.
