First Day of Summer

Jun 29, 2024 22:40

Iana loves her kids and she knows Bolly suggestion comes from a good place, but one day's notice to book out enough space at Adrienne's for all the kids, family, and friends is really pushing it. Fortunately, there is space, and willingness, and while nothing fancy has been done specifically, Adrienne's café is always lovely on its own. She's given ( Read more... )

Jax has been to Weasley family functions before and he almost always feels awkward. He really wants to make more of an effort with his family (and only like 50 percent of that is because of Sylvie).

Anyway he's sitting there making a real effort not to look grumpy or bored and to appear approachable. He's drinking water and nibbling on some chips.

"I knew that would be true," these are the kind of people that stick. And Sylvie needs that. It makes him feel better. "Try to get her to eat. She doesn't eat when she's nervous " That's not really the truth but it's all his willing to share with Mari. He's not going to blast Sylvie's personal business to everyone.

Another glance towards Sylvie, and a tiny frown between Mari's eyebrows that she tries to smooth away. She's a survivor of competitive rhythmic gymnastics, she knows about girls who feel they need to be small and she's not stupid, she clocked Sylvie being odd about her food last time she saw her. But, sure, yeah, nerves.
"I'll see what I can do."

"Thanks," he said. He's talking about Sylvie too much, he hears it. So he shifts the subject, "did you see the picture of me and Dea making the blanket fort." They had eventually tracked Blue down who didn't mind being a part of the project but seemed to resent Jax's presence.

"I did! I printed it out for the refrigerator," the highest honor, of course, "It must've been a very big fort, you're so tall now."

"We had to use a lot of blankets" Jax admitted.

That makes Mari giggle. Their kids are so good, sometimes she just struck by it and she loves them so much, "That's the secret to a good fort, no?"

"I think so, yeah," he thought it would be embarrassing to build a blanket fort but he had a good time. "We'll teach Luci all about it."

Okay, so maybe Mari isn't entirely over the sudden tearing up, or maybe she's just really missed having the kids around lately, but she finds herself blinking quite a lot, "You should! I think that's what cousins are for, no?"

Jax didn't mean to make her cry. It's going teary though, right? "Yeah, we'll have a lot to teach Luci."

Jax isn't so much a hugger and she knows that but oh well, sometimes you have to.

Jax will probably never be a higher but maybe he's getting use to them.

"You're very sweet, do you know that?"

He doesn't think that's true but there's no point in arguing. "Uh...thank you."

"Of course. Oh! Are you hungry? We have so much food."
