The Best Health Motivation: My Baby

Nov 16, 2009 14:00

So I may or may not have mentioned that my little Munchkin-man has eczema. Itchy, red, I-want-to-scratch-my-cute-baby-face-off eczema. A baby's skin is wicked sensitive in general, so at first the pediatrician wasn't overly concerned. But once the dry, scratchy patches spread from his head to his little bod, today's new parenting buzz-word was ( Read more... )

dairy-free, fashion babble, healthy eats, babies, munchkin, yoga

Woot! Congrats on the yoga class! You've totally done it!!! Re: living dairy free (which I did for a month as a test for migraine control...it didn't work...), it was hard for me. But Smart Balance isn't too bad on toast, and soy milk is a pretty decent sub in tea and cereal. Almond milk isn't bad either. --Amy.

I've been rocking the soy milk so far...and it's not bad. I full-on expected it to be narsty, like milk gone sour, but it was just kind of like skim milk. I've had it in coffee and cereal thus far.

The things that are going to kill me are cheeses and baked good. Cheese is clearly out, but you can find dairy-free breads. Yet so far, the ones I've tried have been very dry. Alas. Trial and error, I guess!

dropping dairy from my own diet has been HUGE for my fat loss. soy and gluten are two other big ones that you'll notice a big difference from, even if the little man isn't allergic to them

I may have to do the same, as my little one spits up in fabulous fashion everyday, all day. Target sells 10 packs of large terry bibs. I broke down and bought a second pack ( ... )

First things first: having a baby two months is still "just." It took nine months for your body to stretch out to make room for your baby girl. So don't get discouraged if it doesn't snap-back after only two. Weight Watchers is great, though, because it doesn't have any "forbidden" foods. It's all about common sense.

But speaking of Forbidden Foods...here is what I can tell you about the Dairy-free Life so far.

1. I don't think you'll see any dramatic results after dropping dairy for only a week. Our pediatrician said it takes at least two weeks for dairy to work itself out of your system - more for some people. My friend bostonerin's baby was lactose intolerant, and she said that it took 27 days too see the difference going dairy-free had made. But she also said her daughter was a "new baby." In a good way ( ... )
