[Neither rain nor snow nor gloom of night shall stop the mail Nathan from going through people's trash. Especially not the trash of the military officer who is *clearly* in town because of the nearby alien presence. After translating (with the help of babelfish) some of the Korean letters he'd found in his last trash bin diving expedition, he'd decided that the Colonel was not evil. Because Nathan could never feel sympathy for someone who was evil, and he felt sympathy for the Colonel after discovering that he had a much loved and now deceased wife. QED ( ... )
