I liked the Alanna books, but I do remember being frustrated by large pieces of them (mostly her sleeping around... Tamora Pierce is usually better when writing for younger ages as the characters won't get in bed together). I first found them fairly young, so the plot holes didn't bother me much then, although I agree it was a fairly large coincidence particularly around the swords.

... I just realized Northhanger Abbey is probably the book mentioned in Winter of Magic's Return, in which one of the characters can only find pieces of this novel and is gushingly fantasizing about it... it was some gothic romance that you could just tell was going to be a terrible book. Unless it was a parody of terrible books. *grins* Now I want to re-read and see if I can get more of a clue to the title.

Haha, kind of makes wonder if I'll want to play Xenosaga 3, though it's not fair to judge this early since I haven't played enough of the game to have an opinion on any character.

As much as I love Yuri Lowenthall, hearing his voice everywhere can get kind of annoying, though not as much as JYB...
