very insightful reading; I'm the sort that believes if you keep poking the tender spot to see if it's healed yet - just makes it hurt longer though. I like to ignore the pain somewhat and push through it.

By and large, I think that this article is fairly spot on. It is certainly EASIER on the potential future relationships to wait until you are all healed up. But trying to wait for all these to occur at once....or even waiting for the tender spot to stop hurting altogether, that may depend on the individual and the people they'd be interested in dating. For me, healing went MUCH quicker once I had a different future to focus on, and that did include dating. I've done the waiting til the past has faded and I've done the steam right back into dating method. And frankly both sides have drawbacks and benefits. Fleet's advice would have me not dating currently, and I'm oh so glad I did date again. It was easier for me to focus on creative and productive endeavours and explore things I hadn't tried before.

But to each their own. Ask yourself what you want and figure out the healthiest way to get it.
