I was really upset last night when I found out that she had died. I really love her books and I realised last night that I had subconsciously wanted to write her a letter for a long time and that now I couldn't do it. That sounds stupid but whatever.

Doesn't sound stupid at all. I was saying this about Kurt Vonnegut when he died, but it fits with Madeleine L'Engle too. It's the saddest when artists die because then once you've read or seen or listened to everything they've created there's never going to be any more. It's like...when a person dies their "soul" or whatever you want to call it dissapears, and it's especially noticable that it's gone with an artists because they're constantly letting people in on a little piece of their soul and once they're gone those little pieces are still around, reminding you that the original source of it all is gone. I don't know if I'm making sense.

That made perfect sense, and moreover it's true. I am feeling the loss of Madeleine L'Engle quite acutely at the moment.
