1. With distraction77 out of town, I thought I wasn't going to get to see PotC 2 this weekend. But my fangirliest grad school friend was hanging around the Fortress of English today when I was there for another damn meeting, and we looked at each other and I swear it was like, "Pirate Movie? Dude, you know what's frightening? I remember watching compulsory figures -- oh hell, it must've been in the 70's. It was very intricate and particular and also boring. Not to judge, or anything.

It looks like they just did a 5-minute segment on it in 1988. They knew it was on the way out, and that nobody wanted to watch it, but it needed to be summarized so people would know why the skaters had point totals up front. When it's boiled down to 5 minutes and tied into the battle of the Brians, it's very funny.

I didn't do much in the way of figures when I was skating, but I did do a little. They were as boring to skate as they were to watch. I doubt anybody misses them.

Yes. Much too fucking long. We went with brett's friends last night. That last scene? We were all going "Just say no! JUST SAY NO!!" and feared they would be going back out again.

I like that matching of alignments. I reckon I'd be a cowboy based on that. On a good day :-)

A large proportion of my flist seem to be aligning themselves as cowboys. You people and your quest for the greater good! I'll be over here, getting drunk and downloading illegal media.
