These are awesome. Great River voice, and I love the glimpses of Kaylee through her eyes. But, of course, the Lilah/Fred think blew me away. The last line is hi-larious, but the entire conceit was all at once clever and funny and sad and AtS-appropriate. Poor licorice-hating, practical Lilah. Postcoital promises coming back to bite her in the ass, hee! I hope that's some comfort in Hell.

The Lilah/Fred is very good - I guess it would be hard to know you'd already gone to hell if you'd worked in Wolfram and Hart for a while.

I do love the way you write River; there's something unhinged yet deeply profound about the way thoughts connect and disconnect in her mind. And you have her say the most beautiful, disturbing things. I keep coming back to the last paragraph, re-reading, soaking up the image and the words.

Thank you! Writing River really takes me back to my undergrad poetry workshop days -- it seems like all I have to do to get her voice is to pretend I'm writing a prose poem. I can cover a lot of ground in a small number of words, and that's a lot of fun.
