Huh.

This is interesting. Especially this part:

To stretch the normal 22-episode season of "Heroes," which faltered after its long hiatus this year, NBC will add "Heroes: Origins." The spinoff will introduce a new character each week, and viewers will select which one stays for the following season. The two series will have 30 new episodes ( Read more... )

I think I'm excited about it. It'll help alleviate that crushing boredom of a normal hiatus time, and the interactive part will stir interest and discussion. I'm really curious to see where they take it!

I think if it's done right, it could be cool... and I guess I just have to trust these guys to do it right. I mean, they *did* put together this show in the first place. :)

BTW: check out my edit! \o/

okay, I don't really watch the show...

but you'd think that fallen ratings might maybe instead make them contemplate shorter hiatus?

I was thinking exactly the same thing!
The mid-season hiatus has got to be the worst invention of modern television.
Got a popular show? Take it off the air! Then people will really love it!

I just don't get it. With today's short attention spans and ever changing media landscape, you'd think that the Networks would want to fan the flames of popularity. Instead they're barely blowing on the embers.

I totally agree!!!

because the way to increase ratings it to yank a good show away for 2 months...
because apparently the summer hiatus just isn't long enough...

pfft, what ever

LOL! Nathan Petrelli is one of the characters on "Heroes". One of the plotlines is his campaign for Senate. :) I've signed up for the mailing list and it had asked for your phone number and whether it was ok to contact you via phone/text. :)

Which mailing list was this? I want Nathan's voice on my phone too! :( ...well, if they phone to the UK that is! XD

And this idea of a 'Heroes: Origins' could be good if, as mentioned, they do it right. Still, it's intriguing so they'll possibly have me as a watcher to begin with!

I think it's probably the mailing list at http://www.votepetrelli.com (Which my company has decided is a bad site and won't let me connect to it... the reasoning: "Criminal Activity & Phishing" For some reason, this makes me giggle.)

I know that part of the message was the same as his "speech" from last night's episode-- about protecting the children from the bad bad world. :) I saved the message, but it'll be deleted after 14 days... I wanna know how to save it forever-n-ever! :D

Is it just me, or does the description of "Chuck" sound like Jake 2.1?

Oh, wait, Origins isn't instead of Season 2, it's season '1.5', filler material to fill in the space between the two seasons?

Ummm... it's more like Season 2b.

It will run concurrent with Season 2, or at least during the mid-season break. Remember in this season, we had 6-7 episodes, then had a break around Christmas/New Years for a few weeks, then had another 6-7 episodes, and then had a LOOOOONG break until mid-April. The problem is that when the show returned from that break, it didn't garner the numbers that it orginally had... so they're trying to do something to maintain the interest in the show.

I agree with others that it seems like the most obvious way to do that is to not have the long break in the first place. :p

That Loooong break just about killed me but it still was not half as bad as thr really long break Lost took Jeez (lets air like 4 or 5 episodes and then take a 3 month break)

But I can see this working as they would air half the episodes then air the origins and back to the show Weeeee #0 episodes!!!!

5 more days til *Boom* eeeekkkk
