Huh.
This is interesting. Especially this part:

but you'd think that fallen ratings might maybe instead make them contemplate shorter hiatus?

The mid-season hiatus has got to be the worst invention of modern television.
Got a popular show? Take it off the air! Then people will really love it!
I just don't get it. With today's short attention spans and ever changing media landscape, you'd think that the Networks would want to fan the flames of popularity. Instead they're barely blowing on the embers.

because the way to increase ratings it to yank a good show away for 2 months...
because apparently the summer hiatus just isn't long enough...
pfft, what ever

And this idea of a 'Heroes: Origins' could be good if, as mentioned, they do it right. Still, it's intriguing so they'll possibly have me as a watcher to begin with!

I know that part of the message was the same as his "speech" from last night's episode-- about protecting the children from the bad bad world. :) I saved the message, but it'll be deleted after 14 days... I wanna know how to save it forever-n-ever! :D

It will run concurrent with Season 2, or at least during the mid-season break. Remember in this season, we had 6-7 episodes, then had a break around Christmas/New Years for a few weeks, then had another 6-7 episodes, and then had a LOOOOONG break until mid-April. The problem is that when the show returned from that break, it didn't garner the numbers that it orginally had... so they're trying to do something to maintain the interest in the show.
I agree with others that it seems like the most obvious way to do that is to not have the long break in the first place. :p
