Reason #9,673 to back away slowly from SPN fandom

Oct 14, 2011 15:08

The epic shitstorm of entitlement issues and tinhattery over Jared and Genevieve Padalecki having the gall to conceive a child, without considering either the tender feelings of his fangirls or his grand, nonexistent passion with Jensen Ackles, has made fandom_wank.

I didn't read very far. But I got to this comment and I'm just what the fuck.

“If it's true my opinion of Jared is in the toilet. I still believe he's gay and in a relationship with Jensen. It's not possible for two guys to work as close as they do for almost 7 years and be as close friends as they are unless it's beyond friendship. Not possible. Not with HW egos.

So it's not possible for two men to have a close friendship without them being gay? I have nothing against gay people, as everyone on my flist knows by now. But I think it's selling men short to think they can't be very close friends in a non-sexual way.

EDIT: I read some more. Wow, I'm completely floored by all the comments posted there. They are actually talking about the actor's private lives like they have an investment in them. LOL.

Yeah, that one is special, and by "special" I mean weapons-grade delusional with a heaping serving of misandry on the side.

This is where RPF fandom ceases to be fun and becomes a litmus test of people I want to stay the f*** away from. You can be a J2 fan and still be in touch with reality, but these delusional fans make the whole group look bad.

Yeah, there's being an RPF fan, and then there's...this.

It's the conspiracy theory: "Those evil het fans and the horrible studios conspiring together to hide J2's undying love by pretending the guys are in relationships with women".

I mean, WTF!

The ability to distinguish between fantasy and reality? Kind of important!

I mean, I'd love to be a Jedi, but no amount of wishing is going to make me or anyone else into a space wizard with a laser sword. Doesn't make it any less fun to read and write stories about it.

Oh. Wow. I had no idea that the fandom was that bad. I haven't watched Supernatural in some time but even when I watched it, wasn't involved in the fandom because they seemed a bit kooky but wow ... It must be so weird for the actors!

Crazier than the Snapewives, but maybe not quite as bad as the dude who considered himself married to a horse. MAYBE.

**blink**

**b . . . . link**

Well.

That was special.

I think I need to go scream now, right after I paint, "I Will Not Join SPN's Fandom For Any Reason" on the walls 100 times, in my own blood.
