Good Fare: A Book of Wartime Recipes is similarly horrifying (only because I know from my dad exactly what growing up with rationing was like) and hilarious (some of the "take this bit of offal and shape it into the same shape as a Sunday roast. NOM NOM NOM." suggestions broke me).

I have quite a few British and American wartime cookbooks, both vintage ones and modern collections, but I do not have that one or its companion, Good Eating: Suggestions for Wartime Dishes. Not yet. I've just ordered them both from bookdepository.co.uk.

Thanks!

Oh, lordie! You've hit on a number of my food squicks: bathroom-related names, angel food cake and gelatin. Bleargh!

Okay, the Angel Food Fruit Ring sounds disgusting, but I love the Warm Mint Tinkle. Any recipe named "Tinkle" that starts with, 1 1/4 cups warm water just tickles my inner 8-year-old.
