My S1 Gossip Girl DVDs showed up yesterday. I watched the first two episodes last night after H went to bed - yes, I waited because I am ashamed of how awful the show is and how much I adore it. Nate is technically the best-looking of the guys on GG, but in a boringly perfect way that leaves me cold. Does he ever become interesting or does he remain mere eye candy?

ITA. Chace Crawford is one of the main reasons I was determined to check this show out because he's so gorgeous. But for some reason, initially he didn't seem as hot to me on GG. I'm not sure if I just got used to his character and overlooked his blandness or what, but I find him so gorgeous. I'm not sure he has overcome it, he's a little more interesting though I think as the show progresses.

Clearly Chuck is far more interesting and entertaining. But not at all appealing to me.

SPN draws the crazies for some reason.

Awesome progress on Nano. You're more than halfway done and ahead. Just keep writing. It'll come.

I'm creeping along at 16,000 or so.

So far, Nate has been weak - he just goes along with what Blair wants, or his father wants, even if he doesn't really want to. I hope he grows a spine as the show goes on.

Chuck shouldn't be appealing to me, but for some reason, he really, really is. I'm sure this reflects badly upon my character. ;)

That is exactly how I think of Gossip Girl. In the show about ridiculous spoiled brats the ones who are the most over the top are the best. Blair and Chuck are definitely my favorites as well. Blair wears an outfit to go figure skating in later in the season that is just amazing.

Dawn is even more annoying on GG than she was BTVS (if such a thing is possible).

Blair needs to go cold turkey on the hair bows, I think. But that wouldn't be as much fun. Her outfits may not scale quite the same heights of WTFery as Chuck's, but she sure does love to pile on the accessories and wear things a few decades too old for her.

I did like Blair's white eyelet brunch dress, which was both cute and age-appropriate - as well as misleadingly innocent and demure.

She never heard that Coco Chanel quote about looking in the mirror and taking one thing off, that's for sure.

I think I like Blair's outfits precisely because if I actually saw someone in it I would think it was insane but she almost makes it work mostly.
