I want to thank everyone who spoke with Topher yesterday. Specifically Alphonse. Sorry about that. For those of you who missed it or don't know who I am talking about, well, then it isn't worth concerning yourselves with I suppose but for those that did I think I should clarify a few things.

BRAIN EXPLOSION]
Are we--wait?
[Have a utterly terrified and yet somehow joyful face]
Date--ah--I-- I don't know? What definition of date are you using?
[It's not like he doesnt want to date, though. He sure liked kissing her before...well you know.]
Reply
Are there different definitions? I don't know. I've never done this. I just...I mean we kissed, and that was nice, I'd like to do that again.

I think so? I mean if there isn't there should be. Our jobs revolve around the complexities of human relationships. If it was really that easy nobody would need a doll.
[He smiles]
We can do it. I mean kissing. Again. Yes. I'm so glad you remember that.
[They can try right now if she wants]

That's true. I don't know if I have different definitions for dating. Uhm. Starting a romantic relationship? Does that work?
[ Please say it works, Topher. ]
Really?
[ Now is good. ]

Starting a--
[oh there goes that love sick smile again]
Yes! Yes to dating and ships and being with you. Here. At the end of the world. Yes!
[He leans forward and kisses her just like he did before--rushed and full of awkward. At least his lip is in better shape then the last time. As in it's not bleeding.]
Ow.
[But it still hurts.]
Reply
Bennett laughs, really truly laughs at that smile and his enthusiasm and yes. Yes has never sounded so amazing.]
Ow.
[Okay, that part needs working on. Badly. Also the part where she totally knocks into his forehead with a wince needs working on too.]
Reply
Her laughter sounds wonderful]
Owwww.
[But her forehead does not. They need to work on this.]
Sorry.

[Still it's fun, right? Right. Bennett reaches up and rubs his forehead.]
Maybe slower is better. We seem to keep colliding. Like bumper cars! Only a little more painful.

Why we work with brains, not on a sports team.
[Hur. So funny. He's so awkward.]
Slow? Slow. Right.
[Wait for it.]
Like getting to know you better slow or respecting your womanly space slow? Or adjusting to the fact that I'm from a world where I blew up our boss slow?
[Oh Topher. Why did you say that?]
Reply
Bennett laughs and then STOPS. Full stop. If she were a cartoon character, this is where the screeching breaks sound effect would go. She pulls back a little and up goes the eye brow.]
For clarification I meant slowing down with the physical rate at which we were meeting each other's faces, but you are more than welcome to back up to the part where you blew up our boss.
In fact, it's required. [And she folds her right arm over her left.] Starting now.

...I'm going to be breaking the 4th wall all the time aren't I?]
Oh god, I did not just say that. [Face? Meet palm.]
Oh man. This is bad this is--where I bring up the fact that hello? I'm from a different alternate timeline and/or universe? Also the part where I mention that technically Ec--someone else did the actual blowing up part. I just...actually, mostly I just got in the way.
[awkward pause.]
Would it help if I said our boss turned out to be really really really crazy and evil?
Reply
Oh, you did. Just say that. With enough earnest curiosity that I'm fairly certain you weren't lying or making it up!
The alternate universe thesis? HASN'T BEEN PROVEN. You can't use it as an excuse, Topher. I don't want things being kept from me and since when has Caroline being willing to blow up buildings with people in them?!
[Er.]
It might. Until the part where I point out that he always has been, when you consider what he hired us to do. [Glare of doom, Topher.] What happened? Whole story. No editing. Go.

It's the kissing! It's really out of my normal activity parameters!
[Virrrrginnnnnnnnn]
It hasn't been...not...proven. Think about it Bennett--if they're wrong and this is the attic, I'm in here for a reason! Treason is a reason. It wasn't Caroline either--it was Echo. She's a different person and it's ...a really really long story.
[Sigh. No more kissing for him then. NUTS. ALWAYS TRAPPED ON 1ST BASE! FOREVER!]
No editing. Ok. Well. I was asked to create a remote active wipe device but instead in my total stupidity I created a device that could wipe anybody without any active architecture in their brain because I was stupid and naive and I wanted to...prove myself I don't know--and then Rossum got a hold of that because they're EVIL and not just like the acceptable evil we signed on for but like 'Going to destroy the world with group think armies and mass wiping of entire countries' type of evil. And it was all MY FAULT so of course I went along with the ( ... )

[Well, shit, she hadn't exactly meant to blurt that out. MOVING ON.]
It is a hypothesis. We can't use it to ignore things you know and I don't. Claire doesn't know she's an Active with a permanent imprint. I don't know when that changed, but she doesn't, and all things considered she seems a bit happier than she did when I talked to her the first time, so, I'm going to do what I can to keep it that way. I am not going to go well she's from an alternate universe and not consider these things!
If it wasn't Caroline then you weren't able to rebuild the wedge? [After I died, is the unspoken part. Bennett's not sure what she thinks of that. Good or bad? Could be either.]
Topher, that's like blaming Einstein for Hiroshima. Sure, he did, but history and the rest of us, for the most part, remember him as a genius. If someone abuses your creations, that isn't your fault. So stop beating yourself up already. You're better ( ... )

[Does not compute!]
Is she still an active? [thinking face is ON] Hey if we're talking about alternative universes here, maybe she isn't! For all we know I'm the doll and she's the real girl. At any rate no I'm not about to tell her that cause it sure as hell did NOT work out the last time. But what if she glitches? We can't do anything without an imprint chair. We're both flying high without any sort of safety net. She deserves to know the truth, Bennett. I just...don't know how to tell her without it going horribly horribly wrong like it did the last time.
[Sigh] No. You fixed it. You d-died fixing it. It just put the casing back on and finished what you started. It worked. Echo is...greater than Caroline. It's something to do with her biology, something on the cellular level we never noticed because we were never looking for it. Rossum--Boyd--he knew. It was all a lie to begin with. Rossum manipulated Caroline and then later us ( ... )
