I was less than thrilled when I got 'they'. It's not something super awesome, that's for sure. However, I just sucked it up and got it done because I was committed to Shelley's vision and I'm quite happy with my tattoo. *shrug* The choice is up to you and, really, it's a very small part of your flesh that would be touched. You could get it on a toe knuckle if you're really that unsure about it, haha.

I thought the stories were sent out after the tattoos were all completed, not just after they were all handed out? Though I could very well be wrong. I don't have a word, as I wasn't fortunate enough to be chosen, and it's been so long I don't remember the particulars of the project.

you could always get your "a" tattoo, take the pictures necessary, and then add more to it later to make it more personal or fitting for you?

She did say in the instructions that it can be altered once the original photo is taken (I've made jokes about adding 'whore' and 'babylon' to mine)

I think that for me, the word selected is not nearly as important as the idea, being able to say you're a part of the project. I'd be happy to get "a" (I haven't received a response yet at all, don't expect to get one by now). I'd already decided that the only words I would reject were curse words (which I'm guessing aren't in the story at all, because there's few people who would get them) and personal names (ditto). I guess you could always get it and then add more letters or even cover it up later. But seriously, if you don't want it, let her know so she can give it to someone like me! :)

Personally, I would have been thrilled to have gotten "a". I have a much longer and more uncommon word "goosebumps." It's been a struggle to figure out where to put it. I love the project idea still, but I really don't want to put the word someplace where people are going to be pestering me wanting to know why I have a tattoo paying homage to a YA book series. 8)
