From the first day to this, sheer greed was the driving spirit of civilization.

Greed? Or was it lust combined with an unhealthy penchant for self-destruction? And polka dot umbrellas.

Perhaps everything. Or nothing.

Or the emptiness beneath when once there used to be supple flesh.

I'm more than game, as always, with the mentioned conditions intact. My reputations is so very sparkly, after all.

Delightful. Let us conspire against this world of sanctimonious conceit and complacent safety.

Ah, I even have a name for myself now - how does Adam Hagworth, Esquire sound to you?

It sounds positively disgusting, Adam. Let us stick to the shadows on this one, no?

Ah but how you wound my heart. Deep shadows then.

But still - it should be so much fun. Ahhh, how fun.

My mind is elsewhere. What dreams are these, like filthily clean clouds and soap bubbles?

Mr. Morsus, it's been too long since we've spoken. Always a pleasure.

It has, such shame. We must salve the situation from complete ruination.

Clouds and soap bubbles- an association with infantilism, perhaps? Although I, by no means, have neither the authority nor the experience to judge.

Yes, agreed. Perhaps we might renew our acquaintance at this terrifying Hogwarts celebration? Now I just need to find a dress.

Ah, maybe that's it! Too much selfishness, intellectualism, and sleeping about too many men: my brain is reverting to the shiny purity of youth as a means of self-preservation.

I think that actually made me laugh, Mr. Morsus.

We simply must, I do think. Although, Hogwarts might not be the best of places - I doubt I shall be attending the place. Perhaps some venue darker and more intellectual than that bubbling sphere of foolish optimism and bull-headed obstinacy inbred in both the big and the small.

Glad to have been of service to you, my dear, even if by clowning around.

Still breathing are we?

The House-Elves have been worried. Or celebrating.

One can never be certain with insolent creatures.

Ha. ha. You, my darling, never fail to amuse me. Which is, probably, why I married you in the first place.

And have you punished them for their insolence? Salt over blood - always does the trick.

Yours.

How very predictable.

Although perhaps some kosher salt might be somewhat entertaining.

Do no harm...without an audience, darling.

I know, horrible, aren't I?

For Jews, perhaps. Although I fail to see the entertaining in that overture of yours. Do enlighten?
