One thing that we discussed in last night's workshop was the underlying philosophy of each martial tradition taught in the school. I like that you are able to see things from the outside as well as from the inside - it is the path of philosophy, regardless of what you do with the knowledge.

It's a concept that's becoming much more popular in some of the wargames that I play - building an army capable of presenting a particular challenge to an opponent (prevent me from doing X or I will win), while being flexible enough to answer opposing challenges.

I've started looking for other places that it can be strategically applied... Martial arts is one of them, as sparring involves two or more people in direct opposition, with a clear winner and loser. What other activities have you been thinking about?
