Wow, it IS a YanaKiri day.

I liked this - Renji's sense of order, Akaya's sense of chaos, the play of emotions and logic. And I like that Akaya planned to find Renji. It makes me wonder how long he's liked Renji, and if Renji ever realized that he did on any level.

PIAGET'S DISEQUILIBRIUM!!!!! PIAGET'S DISEQUILIBRIUM!!! PIAGET'S DISEQUILIBRIUM!!!!!!!

*head desk head desk head desk*

*incoherent*

God, this was so good. >_< It's like all the things in psychology that I learned, and then some. It's all rolled up into one nice, angsty package where there's that constant underlying tension and dreariness (since this IS in Yanagi's perspective) and then the disequilibrium of Akaya's bounciness which then rolls into the dreary tension in the climax, and then all smooths out. It's wonderful.

DUDE!!!!! WHAT'S PIAGET'S EQUILIBRIUM?!?! XD XD i don't think we ever took it up in school. i should look this up...

glad you liked. "disequilibrium" might just be a better title for this story, though i'm sticking with the one i got first, for sentimental reasons :3

Piaget's equilibrium (or disequilibrium) is the idea that in order to learn, there must be someone who is smarter (expert) than the other (novice) to create a disequilibrium that will make the novice want to learn and actually BE ABLE to learn. If we have two people with the same type of intelligence (equilibrium), then it won't work. That kinda follows into Vgotesky's scaffolding method...

...and that is further proof that Youko has stayed in Psych(o) class too long.

I loved this story X3 And your title's good, too X3 Calling "Disequilibrium" would have been too much of a giveaway.

DISequilibrium, rather... man, when i typo, i TYPO ><

*____* you know what, piaget's disequilibrium as you explained it just describes yanakiri SPOT ON. i really, really want to research on this now. hey, you'd make a good psycho(logist) XP

seriously though...thanks lots for the info <3

okay, coherent wibbling, of sorts, because I have fallen like how much for this fic.

I dunno if you did this on purpose, but there was this whole sense of Renji building up a wall around himself with all his routines, which is sad because after the Inui thing I'd think Renji has done enough emotion-walling to himself. and then you mentioned something about tragedies past, and since that wasn't explained you realise you have to write a SEQUEL, YA :E

and it seems only fitting really that Kiri should be the one to go to him and knock on his door (which probably never opens unless he predicts it), and drag him into bed initiate the hot angsty sex intimacy. I LOVE YOUR GROWN-UP KIRI <333 he is, okay bigger and naughtier and a little less gawky, but as your Renji said, he's the sort of person you hope is safely under a roof when you're not around and it's raining. your Renji says all the right things, doesn't he.

I am so shamelessly in love :E

...oh. Wow.
*_____* So. Much. Love.
I adore the style of this piece, the detached narrative that fits Renji so well, and how Akaya's presence among the order is so abrupt, discordant, and yet he and Renji still fit together and eee I am becoming incoherent again.
*hearts you madly for this*

(hearts you madly right back) oi!! whatever happened to what we were talking about? is the empire of ghei not getting restless due to its continuing lack of an heir?!

XDDD Um, right. You really want me to write that? *snickers*

is the empire of ghei not getting restless due to its continuing lack of an heir?!

...what, you want me to make Favoured Handmaiden Kabaji pregnant? (Brain. OW.) Because Akaya-kitty has made sure that Monarch Atobe sure as hell ain't getting Prince(ss) Yuki. XDD

akaya-kitty is being a GOOD guard kitty. i haven't considered the possibility of the Favoured Handmaiden becoming pregnant...but now that i'm hearing it, i'm liking it, and i want to attend the christening. if only to see the radiant glow of motherhood upon the Handmaiden's face :D

(so that means monarch atobe finally realized his true love was right beside him all along, as the old imperial ballad goes?)

I...lack the words to feedback this properly. I love that you wrote this in Renji's POV, yet Kiri is so clearly revealed to us through Renji's view. I love the entire brandy section, and the last line there about breaking the equilibrium. Actually, I like the final line in every section, and the details and insights revealed in each section. Am completely wibbling over the way your Renji and Kiri connect despite evidence that they shouldn't be able to, not like that anyway, and just the thought of him going all the way to the school where Renji is teaching is sending me into fits of fangirl incoherency again. And I keep falling for this pairing more and more. *is so pathetically attached*

i love you already for taking the trouble to read. and what you just gave me is plenty helpful feedback already, dude!!! (hugs you) kiri is revealed to us through renji's multiple layers of denial XD i couldn't resist playing up their individual barriers.

you must fall deeply into this pairing's embrace. you know it. it calls to you!!
