Don't admit you're from the US - say you're Canadian, a country people don't actually mistrust and fear. When you go to Canada, well - just claim to be from another part of Canada - or London, if you can hack the accent. Me, I want to go to London or Edinburgh. When people ask me where I'm from, I'll just point at the sky.
