Ah yes, i have had many a baaaad cooking experiment. But, there is one lentil dish that works for me. I like it because it is quick, and low calorie.
Ingredients:
1 onion 1 clove of garlic 2 celery stalks 1 carrot 2 tablespoons of parsley finely chopped 170g of green lentils 2 ltr. beef stock Salt, pepper, ¼ of chilli finely chopped 1 tablespoon of tomato puree 2 tablespoons of olive oil 2 tablespoons of white wine vinegar 1 bay leaf
whole pot=466 calories.
Put the stock and the lentils to cook for 15 min. In the mean time cut the onion, garlic, celery, chilli and the parsley finely. Then add all the veg to the soup with a bay leaf. Add some salt and pepper, 1 big tablespoon of tomato paste, 2 table spoons of oil and 2 tablespoons of white wine vinegar . Cook for another 25 -30 min. Taste soup and season if needed, a bit more vinegar (that verges on too much) can make all the difference with the taste.
The better your stock and quality of your lentils, the better the soup will be.
