I feel your pain on the booze. I had just bought several bottles of wine and cider, and then had to go on this stupid diet where I cannot drink any of it. IT TOTALLY SUCKS!

Who *is* your rhuematologist? Is s/he totally not open to alternative treatments, or just doesn't suggest them, or what?

overall i like her quite a bit, but i've mentioned alternative treatments to her in the past & she sort of scoffed & basically said that she doesn't think they hold any merit for anything, but if i want to try something, fine, but it won't work. i think the two i had mentioned were herbs & acupuncture.
what i find kind of weird is that she's indian, actually from india. i just sort of assumed she'd be open to alternative medicine but she totally wasn't.

just wanted to add that i don't need to get my doctor's ok to try something, it just would be nice if she was supportive or had suggestions.
