It's amazing how much I need you sometimes, like right now...when I feel like I'm not worth anything at all.

But we all were immigrants who came to this country. The Native Americans (politically correct) are the ones who were here 1st. We don’t do what they do. If it weren’t for change our country wouldn’t be where it is today. I see your point and a good one it is, but on the other hand I see the “Protective” view as well. It’s Politics. The beauty is we can always change and one day it may very well be called “Christmas Break if you don’t like it live with it”. Someone had to change it though. We are in a Democracy and majority rules. Or atleast that's the way it should be.

Good counterpoint. The key words to that are, "majority rules". As long as the PC left winngers are in the majority (which if swiftly coming in for along stay due to our genneration) being PC and making sure that no one is offended will always be there.

However I do agree that major things like the learning of english and the understanding that our country was founded on Christian beliefs should be widely excepted. I think it is great to never forget your roots (i.e. teaching your children polish or spanish and also family valuse of those countries and what not) but we should never forget US roots either. So the older generations (those who immigrated) should still pass on their ways while adapting to new ways and allowing their children and their children's children learn and grow in US traditions and history. That, I feel is, the true meaning of the melting pot we live in.

**add on**

Because ultimatly that is what keeps our country great. Sure the melting of everyone's backgrounds will take a while (I mean compared to every where else we are still a very young country) but one day they will all fall into place and we will finally have a true solid identity of our own. As of right now, it's not that solid, it's kind of a melted image if you will. ;)

Of course we were all immigrants. Did you read the article or did you just decided to post a random comment that didnt mean anything? Good job.. I think this Politically correct bullshit needs to be revised. NO one really paid much attention did they.

I just think its stupid how everyone is always so concerned with everyone else offending everyone else. And if one person of one race says something it's deemed racist but if another person from another race says the same thing it's ok. In a majority rules society, theres always going to be SOMEONE who gets offened about one thing or another. So why can't some people just simply deal with the fact that we say "one nation UNDER GOD" in our pledge?

All that I'm going to say is that we should live by the ethic of reciprocity, also known as the Golden Rule. We'll all live in a better place if we just learn to respect each other.
