Harry Reid.

Harry Reid managed to become the top guy in the democratic party. He I am sure has callings and a temple recommend. I wonder how he can justify party affiliation and the church. I don't think he supports abortion or gay rights. However he says medicaid social security the church approves. Do they. What right do we have to take money away from ( Read more... )

Not to be rude, but it's difficult to take you seriously when you don't even take the time to edit your post for spelling and grammatical problems.

As for your comments, it's important to remember that *no* political party is completely in line with the doctrine of the Church. Aside from the inappropriate nature of questioning another's worthiness, your comments reflect a lack of information. I don't think you have anything to worry about with regard to Senator Reid, especially given that President Hinkley meets with him on a regular basis regarding issues important to the Church and are germain to current legislation.

are you actually questioning senator Reid's faith and worthiness?
I find that interesting.
I am a member of the church and a democrat --what do you have to say about my faith and worthiness.

The sad thing is that neither political party is a great fit for church doctrine of for the majority of members.

To question a member based on their political affiliation is not only closed minded but it is sad. It is also a constant reminder to me how disconnected the culture of the Church is from the actual gospel.

Yeah, that is a pretty sad commentary. I've always found it interesting how fundamentalism about any ideology leads to a disconnect from the base doctrines. I could provide examples, but I don't care to do so.

I'm not all that worried about it, though. If some guy in rural Idaho wants to be prejudiced about an LDS senator, it's his own salvation he's messing with, not mine. I'm just going to take a step back and worry about myself.

Perhaps I'm nitpicking a bit much, but it seems to me like the fundamentals of our shared faith are summed up in the Articles of Faith.

I think a return to the base principles of any idealogy or doctrine is "fundamentalism"... so labeling extremists as "fundamentalists" is a complete misnomer.

Let's just call them "extremists". People who cannot think for themselves, and who cannot trust anyone else to. People who subscribe to zero-tolerance policies. People who lack the imagination and compassion to put what's really important first.

I agree, that this is a real problem. We are all members. We can at least count ourselves as sharing something.

I do not hate Democrats... and I am not a Republican. But I cannot reconcile my beliefs with some of the Democrat ideals, sorry. I think the Party "means well" and I give them points for caring, but they fail in approach and execution of their policy. And their consistent use of deceit and guile to get what they want is something I can never tolerate.

How is it messing with your salvation not agreeing with an lds senator. The church does not tell you how to vote. Or who to vote for. I remember on my mission mentioning I was from Idaho and a friend of former Gubertorial candidate Larry EchoHawk said that members of the church turned on him. I did not tell him that I actively campaigned for his opponent and was one that voted for him. Some people think he lost the governership because of his religion with anti-lds people in Northern Idaho. I dont think so because I know several lds people that did not vote for him ( ... )

Just a note, but if you want to reply to me, you have to click the little reply button under my comment, otherwise I only get it if I happen to come back and check.

I don't think your opposition to Senator Reid poses a problem for your salvation. Judging one who is outside your stewardship, however, might. I don't mind if you say that you disagree with his policies, but please try to obey the rules as they are posted in the community info and refrain from specific attacks on any party or individual.
