Not sure of your exact profession, but I recently read about construction for the Childrens Hospital in Pittsburgh and thought you might want to look into it. Green building, families and children in mind, design that inspires transformation. Just thought you might want to check it out.

YAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!

I think that your realization is a good one. I think that it is important to build art and to contribute to your community. The placement of former Burningman projects in San Francisco is really much nicer than some of the other "public art" we've seen in recent years, and it would be great to see that in other cities.

It would be great to see things *not* burn down -- many folks wrote on the Waffle the sentiments that the wood should be disassembled and taken to New Orleans. Can you imagine how much good all that wood and effort could have done there to rebuild that city (regardless of what anyone thinks of the people for living there or the political situation)?

Granted, burning stuff is *fun* but it does bother me to see so much effort going into "impermanence."

If I do go, I'll go again as an ESD volunteer and likely spend the next burn night same as the last: doing emergency dispatch.

That wood was not usable for building materials, it wasn't up to code for use. They specifically used that wood, because it would have been destroyed either way ( ... )
