There's no place for logic in this fandom. Now start writing stories about Mako as an abusive sociopath!

I think my favorite bit of Mako hate so far is a post complaining about his new position as a cop in Book 2. It basically says "You take the bully who THREATENS TO BURN HELPLESS NONBENDERS WHO CAN'T FIGHT BACK and make him a Cop? THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A SHOW IS WRITTEN BY OPPRESSORS."

Naturally, the only time he 'threatens to burn someone helpless' is when he is in an Equalist prison, holding a uniformed Equalist against the wall and trying to extract information. Yeah, those Equalists sure are helpless, what with their seemingly endless supply of resources and technology and hidden weapons. How dare he make a flame and point it at a non-bender! It's not like police officers in the real world hold violent suspects at gunpoint or anything!

My favorite is that Korra somehow became a weak passive female at the end of the show because of Mako. All because after she rescued herself from Amon with no help and got home after hours exposed to the elements...Mako carried her when she was unconscious! Oh, and because when he put his arm around her after the city was conquered, she didn't stop him with violence.

And don't get me started on poor Asami.

yes, Korra was so weak and passive, what with her constant insistence on beating the crap out of all her problems (which I'm actually a little sad she never developed past-- not saying she can't kick a little ass, but I was really hoping she'd have to connect with her more 'peaceful' side to find a solution).

Actually, that seems to be a pattern with lady Avatars. Why are they all so violent? I mean, I like Kyoshi and Yangchen, but those are the only two female Avatars we know of other than Korra, and both were apparently terrifying. Kyoshi tends to be the one fandom portrays as crazy and bloodthirsty, but Yangchen strikes me as the one to watch out for. She was so pants-shittingly scary that there were no wars at all during Kuruk's entire life. Girl meant business.

I personally like to think that Yangchen was some kind of Ultimate Diplomat. Or maybe like Fluttershy, she was the master of the Stare down. Honestly, I'd like to know more about Yangchen because she seems like an interesting character, but she's so far removed from the modern era that it's unlikely she'd come up that much.

I get the impression the next three books will cover Korra's issues more, but she did start to mature by the end of the book - she started to understand the concept of "be patient" anyway.
