Ahhh, what a wretched time of year. At the very least, it passes quickly...

Meanings upon meanings upon meanings...it's ironic that the birthplace of the original ones would be where they're least remembered.

Meanings upon meanings...?

You're forgetting the true meaning of the holiday season!

Presents~! ♥

Presents? Hardly. Saturnalia was a superficial reverse of the social order, Mithras' day celebrated the birthday of a war god, and our oh so beloved Messiah was born in early spring.

Consumerism destroyed all these meanings, naturally, but that simply goes to show humans have faulty memories. It can't really be helped.

Aww, let me guess. ♥ Mommy and Daddy never got you that pony you wanted for Christmas, right?

Ho, trying to provoke me? Isn't that precious.

I'm not really bitter, I just find it funny how easily we forget.

You don't like Christmas?

[Bro, are you like one of those people who doesn't even believe in Santa Claus.]

I'm not particularly fond of it, no.

[Santa is dead. c: Let me tell you how he died.]

There are a variety of reasons.

Wretched? It's the best time of year!

A matter of opinion--and one that I, unlike most of the population, don't share.

Well, it's your opinion, but you should at least enjoy the snow! It's always pretty.

It's not the snow I mind.

Haha, what? With that attitude you won't get anything for Christmas!

un_forgetting December 16 2010, 18:39:20 UTC
My attitude wouldn't change that fact in the slightest.

How do you know that?

Because I have no interest in a materialistic holiday that was stolen from several pagan religions and mixed to placate the masses.

It's wretched for some. For some of us, though, it is quite a... productive time of year.

Wretched and productive are hardly mutually exclusive.

cashtrumpsrules December 18 2010, 11:19:36 UTC
Very true. However, its productiveness is what tends to make whatever wretchedness there is out there seem far less, at least to one such as me.

But what is the basis behind your obvious dislike of this season? I must say I am... intrigued.
