Sometimes I don't think motor racing has progressed at all and it's still in the dark ages, at least where women are concerned... I despair, really.

It's shameful 'incidents' like these where magazines, papers choose to publish articles interviewing women who can only look good but have got no knowledge whatsoever in terms of motorsports and get lauded as 'people in the circle' that cause such unfortunate stigmas to stay.

Sadly yes. I was talking earlier this year to Michele Quaife who works for Carlin (and was their F3 Team Manager for a couple of seasons) and she was pretty peeved about the situation, reckoning she and Vicky (who is one of their engineers) still suffer from stupid stereotyping and still have to be at least twice as good at their jobs as the guys.
