Dark Sunday

A friend of mine from Ithaca recently posted about his weekend full of fun on facebook, referring to some of the adventures as part of "Dark Sunday". What is this? How can I join? I wanted to know. hm. lights, too? i go without TV and computers quite often because i read. but not necessarily without lights.

why not lights too? It will be like Laura Ingles w/o the scarlet fever. You can sit in your big sunny window to read and when it gets dark, go milk the cows.

As long as we plugged in the phones on Sat so they have a full battery? Or does that defeat the purpose? Although, in the olden days our land line wasn't connected to the electric.

Ooh sneaky. The computer would be tempting for me for a few weekends while I tried to get past the habit of it. I'm always on mine.

Hmm... interesting premise. Now I want to try it just to see how I manage without stuff. Does it mean ALL electricity like A.C. too? What about electric stoves? Or are they just talking about forms of entertainment? *is curious*

All non-essential, so including AC but he did clarify having used an electric fan this past week. I'd have to check on the stove front, though it seems non-essential to me. Left-overs, salads, cheese and crackers seem like easy simple no cook foods to me.

Plus during the summer especially, I think I am guilty of using more overhead light than is actually needed to get the job done. The evenings by candlelight sound good to me.
