I feel bad that I got to LJ so late...

my mom was a few years divorced (and not with anyone "concrete") when I came along... think about this... in 1978, she chose not to report the father on the birth certificate and raised me all on her own... it wasn't a choice many women were making then...

to be honest, she really always seemed happy with her choice to remain single, despite my efforts to encourage her to date...

if there's any way this can help at all, I'm sure I can get mom to agree to a short interview =)

Hey Crystal, I am also sorry I'm getting back to this so late!

Thanks so much for offering to help. I am always interested to hear stories like this one. I thought you were an only child but you've never shared this much about your family with me.

I did decide to take my feature article in a different direction. A little research proved that this topic of women choosing to stay single has been written about extensively over the last twenty years. I couldn't think of a fresh and interesting angle to take on the subject that someone hadn't already done. So tell your mom kudos for being awesome all by herself.
