So I wanted to get my copy of Chalice while we were out today. There are bookstores in Indy--no big deal. Sam's Club didn't have it, that's fine. Went to Books-a-Million... after searching and then asking a clerk he said "It looks like we had one copy, but we sold it

Winning a Newbery makes the author marketable to libraries, not necessarily to individual purchasers. Bookstores stock what sells.

Judging by their stock of the newest Twilight book they also stock what gets returned nearly as fast as it sells.
