And now you are about to learn why I should always be MADE to write reviews of things I've seen immediately after I've seen them (it's so much easier to get away with over excited and vague when it's not a month later :P)

First off La Cage aux Folles, and first for that John Barrowman's last show.

La Cage aux Folles (John Barrowman and Simon Burke) )

john barrowman, douglas hodge, musicals, theatre

Wish I'd been there to hear Simon's speech. I'd never seen him before I saw him in La Cage, and I absolutely loved him. He was so nice when he came out to the Barrowman bedlam to sign programmes, too.

I know what you mean about JB being too young and pretty to play Albin. I just loved watching him on stage obviously having a whale of a time, which made it really enjoyable to be in the audience.

Thanks for your reviews - still trying to decide whether to see Hodge/Lawson. Want to see Phill Jupitus in Hairspray (he DMed me today on Twitter to tell me when he's finishing, which is end of Jan so I've got to get my act together!)

Hodge/Lawson were the most different of any of the pairs but that said Phill Jupitus in Hairspray is quite an experience! (just don't expect singin :P)

Boys in corsets is a perfectly reasonable thing to have a thing for.

(I totally do, I'm sorry, I really ought to get them back to you because though I haven't finished I'm probably at a point where I know I like them enough to buy. Do you want me to post them or shall I hold them hostage to enrure another meeting? *g*)

but I still feel like John Barrowman in the West End could be so much more ...

... that's exactly how I felt after seeing his Albin, enjoyable but not a killer performance.

Oh I totally agree, I wish he'd waited 10 years because I think by then he probably could be a GREAT Albin but he's just not quite there yet!

Still maybe he'll have another go?
