The sun went away :(
At least it was lovely yesterday evening as Mum and I wandered along the South Bank. She was complaining that when she worked in that area there was nowhere to eat and nowhere to sit and it was horrible and the South Bank now? Still one of my absolute favourite places in the world <3
We were in London to see Phédre with Helen

I don't think she was going for sympathy. ... I hope she wasn't! She played it very well but she didn't really come off as sympathetic at all.
Speaking of Théramène, I couldn't help thinking about his relationship with Hippolytus and how Théramène probably was almost everything to Hippolytus and the curious kind of relationship a young Greek prince, son of an Amazon queen would have with his brother in arms. And not wholly in the terms you're thinking of (somewhat in those terms, I can't lie). Also, DOM. *swoons*

I don't think she was, it was just as I typed it occured to me maybe I was just reading it all wrong also I don't like Helen Mirren so tend to be a bit useless at being impartial, no reason I just *shrugs*
QUITE. All of that, brother-in-arms and also kind of not exactly father figure but there was definitely the suggestion he's been around the most for Hippolytus and he was SO angry at Theseus. The programme made the whole "a young Greek prince, son of an Amazon queen" relationship with brothers in arms thing... well it sounded like that WAS the right way to think o him pre-Racine.

*G* I thought you'd been very restrained this whole time not mentioning that you don't like her at all *g* I suspect we were supposed to be slightly incredulous about her mania and behaviour in general.
*nods* actually using the, somewhat redundant when talking about Ancient Greece, phrase "heterosexuality" re: Hippolytus and Aricia in one of the essays. But yes, when Aricia drags in the body and Théramène steps back and just waves his arm at the scene, it was sort of a mockery of a bow and he was so disdainful and clearly his respect and love for the king is gone, he'll never forgive him.

I mean there were quite a few laughs at her self delusion actually weren't there thinking about it? When she ehard about Aricia especially.
Well yes, that too.
And the scorn in Théramène's voice when he tells Theseus it's too late, and how utterly involved he was in the story he was telling and how he kept going off into loving descriptions of Hippolytus' bravery too. Plus you think back to the beginning and that sort of affectionate teasing.

I wanted to get a ticket for when it comes to DC in September, but the cheapest available was $104, and I just couldn't afford it. :(
