Who gave permission for August to start?! I definitely do not approve /o\ This weekend is an ALL the theatre weekend and so I am inevitably slipping behind on reviews again BUT instead of catching up I've been listening to the new Aurora Orchestra album and making Courgette Cake and staring in horror at the various piles of things that need sorting ( Read more... )

I LOVED Station Eleven. Chloe and Katie were responsible for me wanting to read it and then I was lucky enough to get an advance copy and I haven't shut up about for the last year. I rec it to everyone (although it probably *wasn't* me who rec'd it to you!). Pretty certain it was my favourite book of last year. <3

I've actually found I can cope with not knowing all the background to the Marvel comics that I've read, although I still struggle with the format. I do use wikipedia a lot though! I enjoyed Hawkeye a lot and would like to read vol. 2 (I've read 3, because the library had it).

I think it might have been you know, or rather I might have seen your conversations with Katie & Chloe *g*

I think I'm too much of a completist, I want to understand it all so I get frustrated. There's n way I could read a volume 3 before 2 for example (though I wish I could!) I reckon I'll give volume 2 a try at some point though.

I suppose it's entirely possible. *g*

I must admit, I did not like reading volume 3 before volume 2, but I'd got mixed up as to which the library had and I needed something quick to read. It wasn't too bad, as it focuses on Kate, although I did want to know what had happened to make her end up where she was! So I have no problem jumping in in the midst of universe history, but I have to start with issue 1 of a new run. I couldn't have picked up a later volume of the previous Hawkeye for example. And of course, Ms Marvel was introducing a new character, so I was fine with that, even though I didn't know anything about Captain Marvel.

I bought Station Eleven recently and your review made me move it up my bookpile. Also, I have added the Peter Beagle collection to my wishlist. Thank you!
