I've actually found I can cope with not knowing all the background to the Marvel comics that I've read, although I still struggle with the format. I do use wikipedia a lot though! I enjoyed Hawkeye a lot and would like to read vol. 2 (I've read 3, because the library had it).

I think I'm too much of a completist, I want to understand it all so I get frustrated. There's n way I could read a volume 3 before 2 for example (though I wish I could!) I reckon I'll give volume 2 a try at some point though.

I must admit, I did not like reading volume 3 before volume 2, but I'd got mixed up as to which the library had and I needed something quick to read. It wasn't too bad, as it focuses on Kate, although I did want to know what had happened to make her end up where she was! So I have no problem jumping in in the midst of universe history, but I have to start with issue 1 of a new run. I couldn't have picked up a later volume of the previous Hawkeye for example. And of course, Ms Marvel was introducing a new character, so I was fine with that, even though I didn't know anything about Captain Marvel.
