Today might be Thursday but it feels like Friday because I've got tomorrow off work purely because it's the end of our leave year and I'm already carrying over the maximum without this day. What that ACTUALLY means is it's a day off with nothing I have to do \o ( Read more... )

One of the few things I miss about living in Cambridge is its proximity to London and days of using my MA card to zip around as many exhibitions as I could possibly squeeze in. Bit choked that the Transport Museum no longer offers free entry to MA members - I used to go there a lot.

I didn't know that about the Transport Museum! It still did when I last tried, I guess that probably answers that dilemma then because if I have to pay I want to give it a proper amount of time not add it to my ALL THE EXHIBITIONS list.

Things seem to come and go from the list far more rapidly than they used to. On the plus side, it now includes the Tower of London, which is very exciting. Mum and I spent a rainy day there in September, first time we'd been in about fifteen years. BM exhibitions are weekdays only now, but there is a freephone number to book (if you delve far enough into the website).

Doesn't clicking on the person do the walking part?

It makes the whole route a walking route (or it would if it worked, several times it's just refused to do anything at all!)

There used to be an option that would basically give you public transport but if any section was faster to walk it would show that and that bit seems to have gone. Still I mostly know which bits are faster to walk now I suppose!

At the minute I'm just trying to work out where everything is. I'd have preferred it if they'd updated their website next week!!!

Ahh ok. So their improvements aren't all that helpful for that then.

I guess once we're used to it there may be real improvements but on first glance I'm not too impressed. I guess having the route right there without the extra click is useful?

And I am VERY glad it recognises St Albans properly now.

Oh gosh, is Vikings horrendously busy? I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. :(

Glad to hear Lear wasn't amazing. :) I'll still go and see it on the NT Live, but I feel better for not seeing it on stage now. :D

Admittedly the person who told me went at about 5 on a Friday evening in it's first week but she said it was REALLY rammed. On the otherhand she also said it was fascinating and it's not that I don't want to see it eventually just maybe not this week.

*g* glad to be of assistance!

Looks like I won't be getting a lie in on Sunday then. At least if you're in in the first entry you get a bit of peace! That's if there are any tickets left at all of course. I've left it a bit late to book now! (Edit: Aw crap, too late. Will have to try for day tickets. :()

I went to see Vikings on a Saturday afternoon and except for the first few exhibits, which were very crammmed, it wasn't as bad as the recent photography exhibition at the Natural History Museum, for example. I saw the latter on a Friday evening and it was pretty horrendous.

Re the Vikings, I was asked to wait 10 minutes before going in to control crowd flow, which wasn't a problem. I must admit that I ended up skipping the first few exhibits because my patience ran out. But this was on the basis that as I'm a member of the British Museum I can go back and see it another time in any event.

Really enjoyed it, BTW.

That's very good to know! I think I just might need to time a visit midweek and maybe first thing if I can. Getting in free to these things does make a HUGE difference.
