Today is being one of those all-over-the-place sort of days. Everything I start gets interrupted by half a dozen other enquiries/problems. Still most of them are also important?

So here is a post with a structure as fractured as my thoughts are right now (that sounds almost poetic doesn't it?)

In the shoes of … Ela Farrell | Specialist in Read more... )

history, tv, the lizzie bennet diaries, pride&prejudice, doctor who, theatre, shakespeare, avengers, the hobbit

I didn't know about the deaths until about two days ago when tumblr essentially spoiled me and I went and read the end of the book to confirm it (I'm reading it a chapter at the time at bedtime at the moment). I guess it would have been nice to be unspoiled, but I'm the sort of person who always reads the end anyway and I don't think it's reasonable to expect to remain unspoiled for a book that's 70 years old. We'd never talk about anything if we worried about spoiling endings! And I still got that kick in the stomach feeling, it just wasn't in the cinema/in the midst of reading (but I do tend to get over involved in things! ).

I think this is a very interesting post that I might come back to later with more thoughts and when I'm not trying to type a massive comment on my tablet. :-)

That's true. And I fully expect to be in floods or tears (or rather very choked up because I'm British damn it) even though I know perfectly well they're coming. I'm still amused/angry at the conversation I saw in which a newbie fan was trying to claim that Tolkien wasn't really a big fandom...
