Next week and the week after I have two runs of three nights of theatre in a row... which is very exciting and wonderful but also slightly exhausting just to think about. The first one can be blamed on me being incapable of turning down free theatre and the second can be, well blamed isn't the right word At All but explained by the fact that Amanda ( Read more... )

Yes I've felt that on the drives back to leicester. Service stations at night can make you uncomfortable.

I've driven late at night before and it's always a bit unnerving stopping isn't it :-/ but when I registered that no it wasn't my imagination they really were ALL guys I was both very surprised & a little freaked out.

I also wish the good coffee places stayed open later because that's what I needed!

I really didn't like the play, because it felt like they'd taken a revenge tragedy and played it for laughs, especially about the rape - I was actually very cross at the RSC, becaue it wasn't like it was an old play, someone had chosen to stage a play and play the rape for laughs (we saw an earlier version so maybe it was change) I love the interjecting woan in your perfoemansce.

Yeah... well it is an older play but also a newer play? And I have a deep suspicion that that interjection changed the tone of the play a lot because it made it very clear the audience was against Fernando and didn't believe or trust him (we had some snorts of disbelief at the end too which were loud enough the actor had to react)

It didn't feel played for laughs, or at least some of it was but the rape certainly wasn't, but I could see how it wouldn't be very hard for it to slip into that so whether the production changed or it was just the mood of the audience when I was there I don't know.

I certainly won't be sad if it gets lost again!

Sounds like it has changed - it definitely felt (though I acknoelgee that audiences have different experinces!) like they were playing sexual violence for laughs when I saw it. I know what you mean about older and newer play though - and while I'm glad I saw it as they wre putting it on (thoguh it's not part og my !have to", I wouldn't mind if it were lost eiher!
