Right. Fighting against my sucky day here are some nice things:
  • Yuletide nominations are open! ♥ Clearly this is also the moment to panic because OMG HOW DO I CHOOSE but mostly it's shiny *g*
  • I just switched on the news to get a snippet of a live interview with Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley at the premiere for their new film being gorgeous ( Read more... )

bang goes the theory, cycling, sport, films, yuletide

The TT today was really good. I don't think England had medaled before in the TT either, if I heard Hugh correctly. The Aussie commentators we had for group 1 weren't bad either, it took a bit of adjusting to get used to Hugh again. Then Chris' microphone didn't work either so they were having a fun time. Diving was good too :)

That sounds right, I didn't hear them say it though *g* it was a hell of a ride by Dave though! And then Alex said if he had to lose to anyone...

It's kind of insane thinking he was still on his ban last Commonwealth Games. Somewhere in the last 4 years I went from grudging forgiveness to hearteyes again <3

It was really good. I'm not sure he was impressed with his drinks thing at the end though. Awwww. I was a bit worried about Durbridge to begin with and then on the way back he didn't seem to be going quite so well.

There's hope for Vino yet then :P Dave's ban went a bit over my head because I was slightly more interested in Texans and I only watched the TdF highlights. It was amusing how in the live programme they went from talking about how he had a lifetime ban from the Olympics and then a few minutes later Rob included him when he was talking about how good GB looked for 2012

Dave had an awesome second half, he was only just up on Alex at the turn and then 54 seconds at the end... IDEK

Hmmmm... Only Dave fessed up pretty quickly and Vino still kind of hasn't :P

Oh Rob *sighs* I get why the Team GB people have the rule and all but it does make me sad a bit that he can't compete at the Olympics. Still by 2012 Alex Dowsett will be even more experienced and BEAT THEM ALL including Spartacus *nods*

I'm a little conflicted because I didn't really agree with Scotland giving back his eligibility, but given that he's there I'm really happy that he won. If only Michael Hutchinson had got the bronze it would have been the perfect podium

I haven't watched any Commonwealth Games at all due to time difference and lack of feeds and complete disinterest of the US media, but mostly they've made me realise how much more patriotically Manx than English I am. Oh why won't the internet provide me with a picture of Cav driving the team car?

I guess... I think if he's allowed back riding he should be allowed back everywhere but I realise that's because I like him and I'd retract that statement in an instant for other riders.

I've hardly seen anything bu I have been reading stuff. The Manx kit is so totally awesome and I think, via Cav, I've become bizarrely invested. I also, incidentally, get pretty much equally excited by any Home Nations win and then have to remind myself I'm meant to be cheering for England *g*

It does seem a bit unfair for different countries to have different rules, but I like that the BOA has a zero tolerance policy against doping, and hopefully the prospect of a lifetime ban from the Olympics will be a deterrent to some althletes. But it seems unfair that the Scottish Commonwealth Games body will make an exception for Millar because he's seen to be saying all the right things.

I have a hard time saying that I'm totally confident that any cyclist is not doping, but if I had to pick a 'most likely to be clean' rider from the current peloton I'd probably go for Dave. But I believe that if the rules aren't going to be the same for everyone they may as well not have them in the first place - it rather undermines the effectiveness of that restriction for everyone.

Film2010 are interviewing the main three from Never Let Me Go and I think they're all slightly tipsy - there is a lot of giggling and mocking.

I think it might be my new favourite thing from today. They look like they're having such a fab time (and I'm glad someone found poor Keira a cardigan before she froze)

I just want lots and lots of interviews and bloopers of the three of them now... even more than I want the film :P

And then whichever one has the microphone pointed at them is trying so hard to be serious but has the other two trying so hard to undermine it all <3

I'm glad you had nice joy-gleeful things after all the rubbish-y work stuff.

Carey and Keira trying really hard not to look at each other when Andrew was talking too <3 just fantastic. It's generally a good sign when a cast get on that well!

Yeah, this evening has done it's best to make up for my day i's true.
