Crazy, isn't it. We had something similar from the LibDems at the last General Election, and I've had the same argument from the Tories ('LD is a wasted vote') in council elections.

I am surprised because I've barely received any election bumpf. We have an Independent candidate called 'Old Holbourn' and I want to know more!

The Lib Dems are REALLY out in force around here. We've had only one thing from the Conservatives (and nothing from Labour but that's because my parents are party members and have the poster up, in a way I'm surprised we've had anything through at all! At least Mum's stopped throwing it away before I read it now)

I honestly don't get how they think the "wasted vote" argument is one they should be using, especially not this early on!

We have had a Labour leaflet, and that is it... Cambridge has lots of LD posters, and one handmade Green party one that I've seen. When I lived at home I had to stop my Mum throwing Tory things away on the grounds that I wanted to know what they were saying so I could make counter arguments.

Labour seem to have given up on our constituency (I don't think we've had anything, unless someone else threw it out, though we've definitely had mail shots from the Tories, the Lib Dems - incessantly - and the Greens and even UKIP).

I think Labour are being a bit craven given that OK, the poll results don't look good, but going on the last election, they don't actually need a big swing, and our MP came out of the expenses affair looking very bad. I suppose they're concentrating on shoring up their vote in seats they hold, but...

I haven't decided if I'm voting Lib Dem or Labour.

I know, those things are controversial even within the party - but apparently they work, so we keep using them. I'd prefer to get rid of them myself. I understand the need to overcome the self-fulfilling "Lib Dems can't win anyway" meme, but I think there are better ways of doing it.

Right now it's making me think, painfully, of the Geek Social Fallacies. Like the only way to get past "Lib Dems can't win" is to push that onto someone else and say "Labour can't win here" :-S

It will be kind of interesting though if in three General Elections we go from Labour to Conservative to Lib Dem! But it's too early to say just yet I think.

We don't get anything like that and that is because my constituency is Labour. Very much Labour, more than likely never budging except for an act of God or someone campaigning really REALLY well. Keir Hardie was the first socialist MP and he was our MP. The last general election, Labour won with

It's kind of silly I guess because in a place like that you kind of can say only this party is going to win but obviously you don't because everyone knows!

I hit the wrong button and then got talking to Edgar, this is the rest of this comment but basically, yeah, they don't bother, which is sort of sadmaking. I'd probably vote Labour anyway but I don't really get a choice. I have to vote for the sane people so the less sane people don't get in.

We don't get anything like that and that is because my constituency is Labour. Very much Labour, more than likely never budging except for an act of God or someone campaigning really REALLY well. Keir Hardie was the first socialist MP and he was our MP. The last general election, Labour won with 51% and the runners up were Respect with 19.5%. My vote is worth 0.32 of a vote (if a vote is 1) because my constituency is SO Labour. As much as people may be swayed by shiny shiny Nick Clegg, I suspect he won't have swayed enough people to win my constituency (they got 10.9% last time) but you never know!

You never do know but probably that does kind of make sense :-|

Because to be honest it mostly makes me want to vote for X out of sheer bloody mindedness.

You and me and, I expect, pretty much everyone else. *g*

LOL

I suspect it isn't a very GOOD reason to voet/not to vote for someone but it is oh so tempting.
