I need toys for my nieces. The nephews are easy, anything shiny will do, but the nieces are special and need toys that will be safe for them. The first is a 6yo kindergartener with Downs and the second is a 4yo Autistic preschooler. Both need toys that are both sturdy and engaging and are safe to possibly be bitten. At our local hand craft markets we have some people who do unique stuffed animals (bit pricey though). Also, we have a carver with an impressive array of vehicles (for the boys).

Yes, I was thinking of a carved truck or train for the younger nephew, but the older nephew is in Pre-K now, and I don't know at what age hand-made things become uncool.

For the girls, who are both fairly girly, I was thinking fairy tutus or maybe stuffed animals or dolls if I can find them. I'm very tempted by the hand-carved puzzles, but am worried that they might be too frustrating or become ballistic missiles.
