dont think about the blocks that can stop you! think about the ways you can jump over them and dont let money be an issue! take out a loan or something, but if you truly have a feeling you can make it big in one of those hobbies then GO FOR IT!

(but i do understand how you feel with lack of money...i stil lack money and i have a job and dont spend my money wrecklessly!)

another thing - lj doesn't just have to be about bettering yourself. its just about expressing yourself. period. whether good or bad. but how you choose to use it is up to you ma'am! and hope all is well :)
