Beijing Gig Blog Review: Late Night With Tookoo & Friends

I just finished reading littlealex 's review of Friday night's Tookoo gig.  (link above)  Sun Lingsheng, lead singer for 果味VC, showed up to sing Take Me Home with the band.

This is Tookoo's regular version of Take Me Home

And this is littlealex 's video of Friday night's performance of Take Me Home.  Looks like ( Read more... )

Finished reading the article. Love it. Takes me back to when I was in Hollywood and going to gigs all over the place. Although the sound is horrible, the music doesn't sound too bad. I used to go to punk and thrash concerts all the time (gave more than enough blood in the mosh pits of my youth). They so sound like some punk bands I used to listen to. I am sad to read that this might be their last gig. I am hoping it is not, but I understand how hard it is to live doing this kind of music that is outside the mainstream.
:(
Thanks for sharing-wish I could have been at that concert. It looks like it was a blast. ROFL when I saw him wearing a suit and doing this song. The image just doesn't compute.

Sounds like this was your kind of show with all the energy & dancing. I've never been in a mosh pit. But I have a lot of fun watching keke.

haha, you posted this before I managed to wrangle youku into uploading my own videos! I made another post at the blog with them and while this video is great because it actually starts from the beginning, mine was up way closer. ;)

thank you for linking my blog! this really was one of my favorite gigs, i'm glad you liked the post about it :x

Yes! I just changed the video to yours, thanks!

I'm waiting for youku to load the other videos so I can check those out too. Random observation: Red pants for guys seem to be "in" in China, huh? I've seen the guys from Perdel, Life Journey & other bands wear them.

I can't wait to read about the next show you go to. *big grin*

Any time! I'll try to take more videos from now on - they always turn out better than I imagine. However, it does mean I'm the dweeb with their hand outstretched in group photos. ;)

Red pants for guys were "in" in Australia a few years ago, so the trend isn't surprising me, but I kinda love it. The all-black look is boring so I'm more than happy for them to wear bright red skinny jeans. But I've seen some funky colored jeans here - all shades of blue, yellow, red, purple... I haven't seen bright green yet, though!

My funds are a little tight this week so I won't get to one this week (even though I REALLY want to go to Lonely China Day tonight, ugh), but next week (salary payment pending) I should be able to get to see Mushroom at MAO. That should be good.

Well, I LOVE the idea of you taking more video hehe but I know sometimes it's just nice to put the camera down and enjoy the moment. Hopefully you can do both :P but enjoying the music is more important.

Yeah, I dig the red pants. Hard not to, when my favorite dudes are wearing them!

Mushroom at Mao! If you could only see my reaction to reading that. I am so curious to hear about that concert. Now you need to get right up front & take video of Pupu singing/SCREAMING his lungs out so I can show everyone why I said he scares me a little :) Should be a great show!
