I just linked to my post... I posted it to the New Yorkers list because I hoped people would stay safe.

A photo of her in the same area from 1988:

(I went looking for pictures. Didn't expect this.)

And I'm not allowed to post to newyorkers.

Wow. Poor thing. I wish someone would get her some help.

Yup. Reasonable enough. Seems like it would be good for the info to be there, so go for it.

Its a disgrace that the police down-played the incident and were quick to say "she will be released tomorrow" if arrested.
Perhaps if this homeless person walks up to a judge who is walking nearby and punches him in the face, disfiguring him in the process, then THIS will be a reminder of how the law system fails. Each time the judge will hold court in session, all the people in the room can laugh at him and tell him if his judicial system would actually protect the people in the FIRST PLACE (without cops using the attitude they used with your friends horrible assault), them maybe the judge would not have been punched in the face.

Needless to say, stuff like this frustrates me as I was almost killed by a drunk driver in 2007 and the guy is still on the run and the police seem to not care. He was finally arrested in 2009 but let go on $1000 bail and he took off. The judicial system fails. :(
Sorry to hear about your friends ordeal.

It's a failure of the system all around.

ugh, that's terrible, for everyone.

(also i hate how in every comm there's someone out who always insists the "bad guy" is actually just a victim and you should be more sympathetic, that really pisses me off. you called the police and the homeless coalition AND didn't press the cops to toss her in jail for a few hours when you were told that was all that would be done. man, people are special.)

So what are cops going to do when someone just knifes her in response?
