Yes, I finally got actual Sam/Arthur into this 'verse! Arthur will... well, I don't know if he'll ever like Dean, but eventually he will understand him better. Now, however, is not that time. If it makes you feel any better, Dean would say just as bad about Arthur (and while Arthur says he'll break Dean's jaw, that assumes that he can).
And \o/ - the spy!talk wasn't too oblique! Thanks so much for letting me know you enjoyed it.
I wanna know why they hate each other. I want Dean and Arthur forced to be together for ten minutes in a room!! *cough*
:)
I am like...utterly incapable of reading the 'subtle references' about a lot of things, and if i went back and re-read i'd probably get it, but reading through just once? Spy-talk was totally oblique and spy-y and fun. :)
Well, that didn't work (thank you, LJ, for taking away the "preview comment" button so I could know whether or not spoiler text works in the comments pages). If you really would like to have the answer to your question, you probably got an e-mail notification; if not, let me know.
Oh, NICE work tying these two worlds together, with Sam as the connecting widget, seeing too much on all sides, wishing he could give Dean another few years in the dream, slipping Arthur an anti-possession charm.
This episode is very much a big invitation to mix these worlds up, and Sam's four years at Stanford are always a great place for him to explore alternative lifestyles, as it were. Then I looked at the series of episodes in the middle of season three: "DaLD", "Mystery Spot", and then after Jus in Bello, "Long Distance Call," all of which would make anyone who'd been involved in dreamshare start to question their sense of reality, and yeah... I'm very happy to hear that you think this worked well, and I hope you enjoy the others, as well as the rest of this little mini-trilogy I'm putting together about s.3, once I get to them.

I don't know if i'd rather the dream root or the PASIV. But wheeee! Quickie in a dim room! All the 'spy' double-talk! Fun, fun stuff.
