Winter Gardening...

... is amazing! One of my amaryllises (??) has a full bloom. Why on earth have I not grown these in years past? They are really really easy and satisfy my need to garden during the winter.

I need to check out that website. I still use a point-and-shoot camera, and it's inevitable with dimmer lighting.

So are you growing those indoors? And did you start from seed? They're gorgeous. I'm wondering if they would grow here where we're not getting a lot of direct sun inside.

Yep, they are 100% indoors, and I started them from a bulb. I think this time of year most garden centers sell them, probably even home depot type stores. They should probably grow there even without direct light, as long as it's semi-bright. They really were easy, I just plunked the bulb into some dirt, watered regularly, and here they are! The only thing I did to really take care of them was put them on a heating pad a few days when we hadn't turned our heater on yet. But I'd say if you house temp is above 63 or so they should grow just fine.
