My asthma flare-up of last week got worse over the weekend. Saturday afternoon I came very close to taking my ass to the ER. YIKES! That sounds very frightening, I'm glad you didn't have to go the ER. Breathing is pretty essential to life so I'd say taking those meds are pretty necessary.

The cost of non-generic medications is horrific and beyond the means of ordinary Americans.

Here's to hoping your refund comes quickly!

My refund's only like 25 dollars, but I won't object to getting it. ;-)

I've got a client who I just got onto an assistance program for Advair. It cost him $10 for his first month immediately available from the pharmacy and he'll get his next year in 90-day shipments for free. I got the fax this morning confirming that he's fully enrolled now. He just calls when he's down to 3 weeks of meds and they'll mail out the next 90 days. I was so happy. Because that will save him $2700 a year. He makes less than $750 a month right now. 1/3 of his income would have gone to meds, which he couldn't afford so he'd stopped taking them and ended up in the ER. So the real savings when we factor in no more ER trips is even greater. These are the moments when I LOVE my job. Getting to call him and tell him he's fully enrolled was the highlight of my morning.

It's the best part of my job. Now if only I could double my salary. Our nurse makes 2.5 times what I make. *sigh*
