I'm watching this anime called 'Casshern SINS', and I swear to God it creeps me out not just because of its dark storyline but because it looks like they got the dudes who drew Zero's artwork and made them draw this anime. On top of that, Quickman and Quint's lovechild is the main character, with Zero's holy-shit-I'm-the-end-of-the-world complex ( Read more... )

The Megaman series has always lifted heavily from the original Casshern. Heck, in the original series Casshern's dog transforms into a jet.

I've been looking everywhere for that anime, by the way. If you see anyone who has it, please let me know.

Casshern SINS is animated by Shingo Araki, actually, who did the animation designs for Saint Seiya. Which is doubly entertaining because Casshern has Seiya's voice this time around and looks like his body-double.

Tis true, also, that a heaping ton of Rockman is inspired by the original Casshern series. Aside from humanoid robot designs and the comparison between Rush and Friender, according to the R20 book at least there's a canine adversary in the Classic series called a "Friender".

Lawls. Combine that with Rock's Astro Boy origins and it makes you wonder if there's anything original about Classic. ~_^

Let me know if you know where to find the original series, though. I've been scouring the net and I am a pile of fail. All I can find is the movie and this remake.

There really isn't, no ;3 Don't forget to add influence from Speed Racer (and probably Cyborg 009) for Blues --

The OAV remake (I think there were three) from the 90s is out there -- I torrented it at one point -- but the original series is currently towhere to be found that I can tell ...

Wooo, hooray for plagerism that gives birth to originality.

Anyway, got any suggestions for locatable retro animes? We're going to be doing a retro anime day in mah anime club soon and I'd like some good ol' robot awesomeness to show :D And it seems Casshern isn't available. I can't find classic 009 either....*cries* or Astro Boy. I'm a pile of faaaail....
