Is Batman jinxed?

Aug 05, 2008 08:30

Morgan Freeman seriously hurt in car accident.

“They had to use the jaws of death to extract him from the vehicle,” McFerrin said.

First Heath Ledger’s death, then Christian Bale’s arrest and now this?

question, review: movie

I dont believe that nonsense.

Heath died while making another movie, he had finished principle photography on TDK.
Christian's arrest only got big publicity because of TDK's success.
As for Morgan's accident, Shia Lebouf not affiliated with Batman was also in a car accident recently.

Its just bull for people to talk about. Where is the source for this 'curse' 'jinx' stuff from?

Well I'm not superstitious by nature but all 3 guys played major roles in Batman and they've all had some pretty serious, bad things happen to them within the space of one year. I try to balance not reading too much into things with being open-minded.

I'm very superstitious but this stuff is just crazy talk.
Its the same as River Phoenix dying when he was cast to play the interviewer in Interview with the Vampire and then that actress/singer Aailah (forget her name) played the Queen in The Queen of the Damned died in a plane crash. And both films are based on Anne Rices vampire books.

The only thing I found weird was Heath made a movie called "I'm not there" before TDK. Thats the only thing I found creepy.

when (god forbid) something happens to Gary Oldman, Micheal Cain and Aaron Eckhart too -than I'll worry.

And the girl that played the possessed girl in Exorcist. And the strange mishaps surrounding the making of Owen. I actually think that there might be something in these things. And I really am not superstitious most of the time.

Yeah, that is creepy. I didn't know that. Now, that makes me wonder and I know this sounds totally out there, but could Heath be the cause of the jinx?

I think he will be. He was lucid during the extraction and he cracked jokes with the bystanders. He's a wonderful actor and apparently, a very strong man, both physically and spiritually.

I think he will be. The article said he was lucid when he was extracted and he was making jokes and laughing. He seems like such a strong guy. I'm sure he'll be fine.

They are freaky coincidences but I don't think it is a curse.

You're probably right. Maybe just one of those really weird coincidences.

BTW, have you finished Breaking Dawn yet?

I finished now.

Have mixed feelings about it. There's a whole lengthy review on my journal.

It's a fairly weak jinx, if that's what you want to call it. While Ledger's death was pretty tragic, Bale's problem wasn't nearly as serious as it initially seemed, and it sounds like Freeman is going to be okay.

It does sound like a weird series of unfortunate events, but it is a BIG movie getting a lot of attention, so if something happens to members of the cast/crew, they're bound to get a lot of attention as well.

I thought he was arrested for attacking his mom and sis? That's pretty hard-core.

The thing is that nothing in the article linked Morgan Freeman's accident to Heath Ledger's death. So it wasn't like it's the media - or at least this particular source - that is trying to make out the jinx...
