Monster Energy Drinks?

Blech. I was given a free sample and oh man. That stuff is...you can taste the sugar. It's liquid sugar. Even more so than soda. It's that they mushed a bunch of candy and liquefied it.

I wasn't about to become a customer for them anyway. I'd rather not get diabetes. But phew. I didn't realize just how sugary it was.

I actually kind of like them mostly because I should probably be on anti-depressants and they're the only thing that actually work like one on me without any crummy side effects. Weird, but true.

I'm glad that it works for you. Though, there must be some other good stuff out there. I just can't think of any at the moment.

I don't even like the taste so...LOL

Eh, I don't drink them often, maybe once every two months generally. I try to do other things to keep my spirits high.

In any ingredient list, the higher up (closer to the beginning) an ingredient is, the more of it there is in the product in question. According to this site, after "carbonated water" (the #1 ingredient) is glucose (pure sugar, in other words); after that is citric acid (vitamin C, basically), followed by sucrose (another form of sugar). Two of the top four ingredients are sugar, in other words. If you go down to the nutritional info, it also says that in an 8 oz serving there are 26 grams of sugar. And mind you, further down it says that there are two servings in the container, so if you down the whole can you really have to double that (52 grams of sugar!). There's a lot of vitamin C too, sure, but you can always opt for orange juice if that's what you're after, rather than going for vitamin C mixed with tons of sugar and then carbonated.

I know! Isn't it crazy? Of course, I know how to read a nutritional label and I still tried it anyway. So maybe I'm the crazy one.

I think of all the people that must be drinking this regularly and ouch. There are better ways to get "energy."

ETA: Oh, spelling I give up on you.

I read that as "I was given a free sample man"... thought that sounded pretty awesome. I mean, very good of them, handing out guys for testing like that. I'd want one too.

Meh, never did like overly sweet stuff. I remember going to carnivals as a kid and we'd get these sugar-water bottles and they made want puke.
