Up Helly Aa celebrates the influence of the Scandinavian vikings in the Shetland Islands, marking the end of the yule season, and has employed this theme in the festival since 1870. Saw something about this on the Travel Channel a few years ago. It is on the top 10 list of things I want to see before I die.
