The winds of change blow seldom but strongly in this sinking, swampy city, but when they blow, they blow as though they had done quite a lot of blow, that is to say fast and intense and with little warning. Ouch. It's especially hard since you didn't find out until August. Just so you know, I really like UMass Amherst. It's not too hard to get in, and while in-state tuition helps, even out-of-state isn't too awful I think. Anyway, if you get a plan to get out afterwards, UAA could be bearable for two years, like you said, with the right company. And free never hurts. Anyway, As always I'm here if/when you wanna talk.

Thank you for the hug, lady. This situation isn't something I'm genuinely upset about at all, just a change of plan. Like the end of a rough relationship, it's better for me not to be in the city, but I'm going to miss it like mad and I did sort of get dumped -- and that just don't feel good ever. There's always Tulane or Loyola for grad school.

Thanks for the tip about Amherst, I'm definitely keeping my eyes open for future programs.

Enjoy your retreat, my dear, and take care!
